Types of Membership

Regular Fools
  • The entry requirements for a Regular Fools of OGF are:
    1. He is nominated or applies for membership;
    2. Her nomination or application is supported by at least four seconds; and
    3. Donations made in the applicant's name must total at least $25 USD; and
    4. The nomination, application and seconds meet any other requirements snuck in by the fools in charge.
  • Regular Fools may seek advanced degrees of membership by following either or both of two external paths and one internal path. Together the paths form and flow into a merkabah or dual tetrahedron.

    In general, the higher the degree of membership held, the greater the fool.

Clans and Paths
  • The Motley path is the male or Yang aspect of foolishness.
  • The Pied path is the female or Yin aspect of foolishness.
  • Applicants will be randomly assigned to one of the clans by the Greater Fools of OGF when accepted for membership.
  • Each tetrahedron of the merkabah has four points or vertices. Each vertices is assigned a colour from the traditional Jester's hat. The three base corners are represented by

The Green Hats


Motley Hat
The Pied or Motley Hats represent the forth point of each tetrahedron.
Titles of Regular Fools
  • All Regular Fools are entitled to use one of the following sets of initials after their name. Members may alter, at their discretion, the set of initials used.
    • OGF (Order of God's Fools)
    • FOG (Fools of God)
    • GOF (God's Own Fools)
  • A Fool of the 1st or 2nd degree shall use no title.
  • A Fool with a single hat shall be known as The Trickster Name OGF.
  • A Fool with two hats shall be known as The Clown Name OGF.
  • A Fool with three hats shall be known as The Fool Name OGF.
  • A Fool completing one of the two Outer Paths shall be known as The Motley or Pied Name OGF.
  • A Fool working on their second tetrahedron shall replace 'The' with 'The Greater' to the preceding titles.
  • The Titles used by those on the Inner Path are unpredictable.
Honorary Members
  • The requirements for Honorary Membership in OGF are:
    1. The applicant must apply personally.
    2. The applicant must be closely associated with a fool.
    3. The application meets all other requirements of OGF.
Privileges of Honorary Fools
  • Honorary Fools may append the initials HOGF, HFOG or HGOF after their name.
  • Honorary Fools may nominate, gratis, one person for Regular Membership in OGF for each certificate ordered.
  • Honorary Fools may second, gratis, one person for Regular Membership in OGF for each certificate ordered, provided the Fool being seconded was not nominated by the Honorary Member in the first place.
  • Honorary Fools nominating two or more fools for Regular Membership may apply for Regular Membership gratis on the basis that birds of a feather flock together.
Fees & Dues
    Fees
  • The Greater Fools shall establish fees for applications, nominations and seconds.
  • The fees shall be reflected on the web site.
  • The fees may change, without notice, as determined by the Greater Fools.
    Dues
  • The Greater Fools shall establish annual dues for Regular Membership.
  • The Greater fools shall establish annual dues for Honorary Membership.
  • No dues shall be charged or collected during the first year of membership.
  • Fools, whether Regular or Honorary, delinquent in their dues shall be declared inactive. Inactive members lose all rights, privileges and titles except the right to append the initials OGF (for Regular Fools) or HOGF (for Honorary Fools) to their name.
